Take Action To Prevent Serious Consequences
Sexual assault cases, especially when they involve children, are very tough to go through. A conviction will affect you for the rest of your life; these cases can never be expunged from your record or sealed.
Even if you avoid jail time by receiving a deferred adjudication, a type of probation, you will end up on the sex-offender registry. You will not be able to live near a school or park or even put up holiday decorations.
If you have children in the house, there is a risk that Child Protective Services (CPS) will take them temporarily or permanently.
None of these consequences are inevitable at this point, so the most important thing is to remain calm and make sure your sexual assault case is handled correctly and thoroughly.
