Providing Experienced Criminal Defense to Individuals in the Houston Area

When a juvenile is accused of committing a criminal offense, he or she needs an attorney who is familiar with the juvenile courts and the unique issues that arise there.

I have the experience to represent children and teenagers in juvenile crime cases. No matter what is on the docket, be it a Juvenile Detention Hearing, a court appearance, negotiating with the Prosecutors, or a full blown trial, I will always be looking out for your child’s best interests and for their freedom.

The juvenile justice system is supposed to be focused on the rehabilitation of the child, not simply on punishment. My focus in handling these cases is the same. Just because your child has been accused of committing a crime or in fact has admitted to doing a criminal act does not make him or her a “bad kid.” In fact, many times juveniles act out of plain ignorance or from peer pressure. My goal will be always to protect their constitutional rights and to seek justice on their behalf. Contact me for a free initial consultation about your case.

A Strong Position on Keeping Kids in School

As far as I am concerned, the most disruptive thing that can happen to a young person is being pulled away from school. While juveniles who have committed crimes need to be monitored and taught a lesson, missing school exacerbates the problems that caused the behavior in the first place.

A child who may be sent to Texas Youth Commission (TYC) juvenile detention facility is at a disadvantage because he is away from the nurturing and love of his/her family. I believe juvenile offenders deserve a chance to learn why the choices they have made are wrong and try again, through a probationary program, and in the confines of their own home.

I have long experience working with the district attorney's office to ensure that the juvenile justice process causes minimal intrusion to the school life and home life of the accused. I will seek probation and other solutions toward this end.

Contact me to get a Houston lawyer who understands the juvenile justice system and is committed to the welfare of juveniles who are accused of crimes.

A Legal Duty to the Juvenile

As an attorney in a juvenile crime case, I represent the child (known as the Respondent in juvenile court). Even if the child's parents are paying my attorney's fees, the legal duties I owe are to the child. However, it is my responsibility to act as a liaison between the Prosecutor, the parents, and the child (Respondent) and to insure that the parents are in complete understanding of what options are present for their child.

Having children of my own makes me especially sympathetic to the feelings of fear that most parents face when their child is accused of a crime. Therefore, I will always do my best to treat your child with respect and dignity and to walk the family through this stressful legal process.
